Individual Assessment & Counseling Services

Talk and play therapy can often help children (and adults) learn how to manage difficult feelings, emotions and behaviors. Through counseling, we’ll learn that no emotions are bad emotions, but we all make choices with our behaviors that can have positive or negative consequences.  Change is hard, and we can work together to overcome obstacles to your goals. No long-term therapy here! Dr. Julie offers blocks of 4-, 6, or 8-session packages so that we can focus on specific things to work on targeted areas.

I provide a range of assessments that involve interviewing, checklists, direct assessment, and observations. We customize your evaluation to meet your needs.

Types of testing evaluations that are available (please note evaluations can be completed for children and adults):

  • Child developmental, psychological, and/or learning evaluations

  • Evaluations to screen for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

  • Evaluations to screen for autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

  • Evaluations to screen for trauma, mood, or anxiety

  • Brief neuropsychological screenings

  • Bariatric procedure psychological clearance evaluations

  • Pain Stimulator procedure psychological clearance evaluations

  • FAA Fast Track psychological evaluations

  • Forensic evaluations for family court

  • If you do not see an evaluation type that meets your needs, please contact me and I will let you know if I have the ability and competency to help you.

*Rates are guaranteed once you’ve booked your service, but rates and fees are subject to change on occasional review.

Disability Determination Consultative Evaluations

You can qualify for disability for both medical and/or mental health reasons. The Disability Determination Department will try to gather necessary information from the doctors, schools, or other people who know you best, but if they have trouble getting information in a timely manner, they may set you up with “one of their doctors.” That’s me.

Here’s what you can expect when you come:

  • You will arrive at the office - or online for telehealth.

  • Once you’re in the room with me, I’ll review what to expect, my consent form, and answer any other questions you might have before we start.

  • You (or your child) may be scheduled for 1 of 2 kinds of evaluations with me:

    • A short evaluation. (about 1 hour), which consists of a short interview about the problems you are having and how it affects you, or

    • A longer evaluation (about 2 hours), which involves the interview of a short evaluation plus a cognitive test

  • I will prepare a report that I send directly to the Disability offices. You likely can get a copy of the report after the case is decided, but you will need to obtain it directly from the disability office. I cannot send it to you directly. It's not mine to give you.

Claimants for Disability Determination do NOT pay any direct fees for their appointment.
